| Kings of Convenience – My Ship Isn't Pretty Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Two people or "ships" are meeting up. The telegraph confirms that they'll meet. It seems like they used lights to find each other (The sky was the blankest sheet We drew lines upon it so our thoughts could meet" "through cables black and cold we carry our intentions to bridge and bring home" is talking about the two ships sending the telegraphs to each other. The next part is about how communication affects their ability to show their intentions/ability to meet up. The next verse talks about people in prison and people who create graffiti and how corruption is in places like the suburbs. Are these actions just destruction or just quiet protest against loneliness? In the third verse, their cargo is a person. I'm not sure who or what it is. Maybe a convict? This song could be about two ships that harbor convicts and how the singer of the song has sympathy towards their actions ( is this destruction or just quiet protest against loneliness?) |

| Kings of Convenience – Scars on Land Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
To me, it sounds like "We take what's dead And breathe life in" can refer to trying to bring back a relationship, or something that can't be brought back into culture. And opening up old wounds (through scars on land) I'm not sure what the middle verse means. Something that seems pure is actually not in a different view or perspective? Old wounds are being opened up and things are being destroyed, and the original purpose for these actions were forgotten. It sounds like the third verse is talking about oppression. This is a very hard song to interpret. |

| Kings of Convenience – Peacetime Resistance Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Sounds like someone wants to be the center of attention, and is pushy. (a viewer needs distance) And as soon as they are out of their comfort zone or seen for what they don't want to be seen for, they feel insecure. In the past, people were closer because they weren't together that much, but today, we can be together more, and when we spend together, we see how different we are from each other, which can lead to problems. People should be open-minded and see how similar we all are to each other. |

The lyrics are correct the way they are. It's just about traveling the world and seeing all the wonders it has to offer, and having the feeling of freedom and how important that is. Beautiful song. |

| Kings of Convenience – The Girl From Back Then Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
To me, this song is about a guy who is remembering the end of a relationship that he had with a girl from back home. (hence the title) The relationship was making him suffer, and she didn't want to put any work into the relationship, so they ended it. He's reflecting back on it (Perhaps he saw the girl when he went back home) and realizes that when they were in the relationship, he didn't really know who the girl was personality wise. I love this song. It's really simple, and even sounds like someone reflecting on the past. |
