| Damien Rice – The Blower's Daughter Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
It's about a doomed relationship from Damien's past, but it's also about obsession and unrequited love. He knows that the relationship is doomed from the start, but he still takes pleasure in pining for someone, even though he knows they can't/won't reciprocate the obsession. He knows eventually that his obsession will end, but will stick with it "till I find somebody new" to obsess over. |

Corey Glover, the lead singer, said in an introduction to this song, that it's about "the buzzword syndrome": little words or phrases we use that are supposed to teach us everything (but usually don't). The song is full of non sequiturs that sound important on their own or even mixed together, but like most things, are completely up to our own interpretation. A microcosm of this website, actually. ;) |

| Earth, Wind & Fire – Fantasy Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This song isn't about the afterlife; religious people will find religious meaning in anything. Maurice White was inspired to write this after watching Close Encounters of the Third Kind ("take a ride in the sky on a ship"), not after having some religious epiphany. The song simply says that every achieved dream or aspiration has its beginning in fantasy, and not to take fantasy for granted. It's that simple. |
