Everyone always says that all of MGMTs songs are about dropping acid or getting high and just doing drugs. But if you actually listen to their lyrics you get a whole lot more out of it. Just because it doesn't in plain English say "I loved this girl and we had sex" like standard pop music does these days, doesn't mean that isn't what it's about. You can't take the words for face value. It's one thing to be literate but another to be open minded and conscious of the meaning behind words. Like what certain things represent. In this song he talks about a girl with whom he shares electricity, an electrical current, energy, etc. This is a representation of sex, or love, depending on your personal interpretation. There's a connection between him and the girl that he can't describe except by comparing it to electricity. It's also describing the feeling of ecstasy one gets from having sex. The feelings that shoot through your body like electricity. Sometimes you just have to look deeper into lyrics to get the real meanings. |
