Ben Folds – Landed Lyrics 15 years ago
I see it as it being about man who was really oblivious in his relationship with girl #1. It just ended, and he doesn't really seem to have regrets about it at first. He was willing to move all the way to the west coast, going around with girl #2 who he believes he loves. His new girlfriend is controlling, and sounds really nasty from the lyrics:
"She liked to push me
And talk me back down
Til I believed I was the crazy one"
She was maybe verbally abusive. She won't tell him when his former girlfriend calls, even if it's just to check up on him and his new life on the West Coast. He realizes that he's been somewhere else:
"If you wrote me off
I'd understand it
Cause I've been on
Some other planet"
He's worried that girl #1 has already moved on. The line about the telephone czar certainly means that he has ended his relationship with the girl #2, and he'll pick the phone up next time himself.
that's just my take.

Regina Spektor – Love Affair Lyrics 15 years ago
A girl is dating a handsome man that reminds the girl's mother of her own husband, who may have died. "He grew healthy wavy brown hair on his head the kind that babies always go for with sticky little fingers." She obviously looks past his faults like the fact that he isn't a lawyer or doctor.

This song has kinda a sneaky sound about it, like someone is whispering the latest gossip. Fun little song.

Arcade Fire – Half Light II (No Celebration) Lyrics 15 years ago
The line "I guess I'll just pack it up..." is actually "I guess I'll just pack it in."
According to the insert that came with the CD.

Arcade Fire – Ready to Start Lyrics 15 years ago
Official lyrics from the song booklet.

If the businessmen drink my blood
Like the kids at art school said they would
The I guess I'll just begin again.
You say, can we still be friends?

If I was scared, I would,
And if I was bored, you know I would,
And if I was yours, but I'm not.

All the kids have always known
That the emperor wears no clothes
But they bow down to him anyway
'cause it's better then being alone.

If I was scared, I would,
and if I was bored, you know I would,
And if I was yours, but I'm not.

Now you're knocking at my door
Saying: "Please come out with us tonight"
But I would rather be alone,
then pretend I feel alright.

If the businessmen drink my blood
Like the kids at art school said they would
The I guess I'll just begin again.
You say, can we still be friends?

If I was scared, I would,
And if I was pure, you know I would,
And if I was yours, but I'm not.
Now I'm ready to start.

If I was scared, I would,
And if I was pure, you know I would,
And if I was yours, but I'm not.
Now I'm ready to start.

Now I'm ready to start,
I would rather be wrong than
Live in the shadows of your song.
My mind is open wide and
Now I'm ready to start.
My mind is open wide
And now I'm ready to start.

You're not sure
You opened the door
and step out into the dark.
Now I'm ready.
