Is this song about the Movie Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind? The whole concept of the movie was there was a service that allowed you to wipe your mind of any thoughts of someone you once dated, and the character after trying to erase his memory decides he doesn't want to and tries to stop it from happening as his mind is erased. And at the end it turns out that even though their minds were erased they still have longings for what's missing and know that something is missing. The first paragraph seems to reference the Sunshine in the title, and could be interpreted as his call to get his memory wiped as he no longer wants to feel the pain.Not Tonight. But then he keeps having faulty memory as to whether he was his gf's boyfriend previously. The lines "I just can't shake it" could be the feeling that he's been with this person before even though his mind has been wiped. and I was your your gf twice though could be referring to the character who is in love with the doctor who administers the treatment and at the end realizes that she's already dated him and then had her mind wiped and now she's reliving her crush all over again. |
