John comes from a deeply religious family and though he has been a prodigal son for most of his youth, as he grows older, he has begun to return to those Christian roots (See his new video/song "A Ride Back Home"). The "you" in this song is John's appeal to Jesus Christ - it is Jesus Christ who can "change our lives". Of course, John will never be 'preachy'. It's a turn off and he's not that way. He was purposely vague in the wording and yet clear enough for those who know to understand. |
