In my opinion this song is a little advice to those who worry and think too much. Two lines stand out to me in this song: "you can't control everything; take it as it come to you, just breathe" and "all you'll ever need will come to you in time; keep waiting patiently to fall in line". I believe this song is about the worries in life such as members of the opposite sex, jobs, friendships and eveything else that keeps people up at night. Life is too short to worry about these things so in the paraphrased words of The Swellers 'take it as it comes and just breathe, you can't control everything, keep waiting patiently and one day everything will fall into place'. The lyrics didn't really hit home untill I heard the acoustic bonus track version of the song on My Everest. It's scary that the Diener brothers wrote such wise, mature lyrics at the ages of 16 and 17 respectively. |

Courtesy of Nick Diener during an AbsolutePunk interview. Welcome Back Riders: Metaphors about the music industry, growing up, seeing the trends change, ghosts, sit down strikes, gutters... basically, all we're saying, is we're still here. Doing the same thing we've been doing for 7 years. "It's all been sold, it's not rock and roll. Don't beat us when we're down." |

Courtesy of Nick Diener during an AbsolutePunk interview. Fire Away: The opposite end of the spectrum from '2009'. It's about when someone thinks they know what they want in life, so they drop everyone and everything important to them to pursue it. Big mistake. Sometimes you just need your friends. "And all you did was break another tie. And all of this can break another time." |

| The Swellers – 2009 (Album Version) Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Courtesy of Nick Diener during AbsolutePunk interview. 2009: The first track on the record. It's about that moment when you realize that most people are only designed to let you down, so you actually make a resolution to start living for yourself and eliminate everything that might get in your path. This is going to be your year. "Happy New Year, you're dead to me." |
