Seethesailboat, I think it's because that album is fairly hard to get. But you're right, this is a truly beautiful song. I absolutely love it. I think his new album sounds a lot more like this one than Trouble or Gossip in the Grain. Or Till the Sun Turns Black.
To me, he's in love with an Estella-like character. Someone who is beautiful yet cold, and it causes him pain wherever he is. |

Totally agree with jmzr22. And I don't know how to correct lyrics, but the line "Remember all the game I have tried" sounds a lot more like "Remember all the years that I tried", especially in the live version. |

I've heard in interviews that Steve said this song wasn't about faith, necessarily, but simply about the things that set us apart from everything else in the world and define us as human. Pretty straightforward, I guess. But it's beautiful. |
