Such a sad song... I was in love with a guy for years. We were hanging out all the time,we had common friends,we had great parties,but we were just friends. After 2 years one night we were totally drunk,laying on the bed and I said something to him about my feelings. He said: ,,I would do anything for you,you're my best friend but no more." He is now married with 2 kids. I'm happy for him but I still have feelings and every time I listen to this song that night pops into my head. Life just sucks sometimes. |

For me this song is a breakup song,but one of the empowering ones. I have a liberating feeling when I listen to it. How are things on the West Coast? I hear you're movin' real fine" For me this means the chit-chat after the breakup. You meet sometimes, run into each other and ask ,,how are you?". I've tried but you know it's a lonely ride How are things on the West Coast? Oh and move heaven behind those eyes..." You know you can't be friends,because you can only move on by yourself,letting the other one go. However sometimes you wonder that you still love the other person and you're lost in his/her eyes. ,,But I don't want to play the part And I don't want a taste of victory No I don't want to read your thoughts anymore My God" You don't want to win the breakup, you just want to get over it and move on. This is a really old song but I could listen to it forever. When someone breaks up with me,this is the perfect song to listen,I can totally relate to it. ,,You tell me you don't love me over a cup of coffee" I think this line has a lot to say. The person just want to have a coffee and break up,but for you it's not so simple. For the other one it's like just chit-chat with coffee,but for you it's heartbreak. The other one doesn't realize that or doesn't want to get it. You don't say anything,you just look away. ,,I want to ask where I went wrong But don't say anything at all" You don't want to hear that,because it's painful and maybe the other person has a wrong perspective of the situation. You know inside that it's not your fault and you don't want to hear the other person says that you made mistakes. ,,Hanging round bars at night wishing I had never been born And give myself to anyone who wants to take me home" Drinking alone,sleep with anybody who smiles at you. Worst feeling in the world. I love ths song because it doesn't sugarcoat things. After a breakup everything is dark and simple at the same time: you suffer,you cry,you scream and one day it'll be over. |
