well obviously its about nathans childhood since hes explained it several times though i gotta point out the reference i dont think anyone else has "with purple pants, they start to tear..." and "its turning my skin green" obviously this song holds alot of his anger of what his stepfather did to him, since hes referencing his anger to that of the hulks from personal experience i can understand how it feels, being young and being forced to do something you dont want to and having to pay a ridiculous price because of it, and wishing so bad you could just throw all the aggression and violence back, but you cant, and so the anger manifests and one day itll just explode and i think a big part of the birdo reference is also because at that age, nathan was probably playing nintendo so it more so describes the experience through adolescent means |

well, ill take a stab at this honestly it sounds like nathans talking about mutual experiences between him and the crowd during shows referencing lights and the feeling you get being on stage saying that he loves performing and being in htb however theres also a side that says its a love-hate relationship and it cuts him up that even though he loves what he does, all that seem to come HTB's way is bullshit and misfortune, not to mention they tour almost constantly, and thats probably hard for him especially since hes mentioned in multiple interviews that his girlfriend is like the light of his life and hes head over heels for her so i hear alot of conflict in this one.....do what you love, but at what cost? just my thought though |

well finding the meaning for this song isnt like finding the key to pandoras box obviously its about rape, but from the perspective of the victim (who i also believe is a man) not much else i can add at the moment but personally, its one of my favorites. i love nathans writing |

Theres a few youtube videos where before the song, he says its about "a man hitting a woman and feeling bad about it afterwards" honestly, i feel like it is a sort of cry out. a man who knows hes a wreck and a waste of life and that the one person who gave him love, he ended up destroying, not because he wanted to but because its just who he was and he apologizes constantly but he knows itll never bring her back |
