| Avenged Sevenfold – Nightmare Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Someone may have already said this, but this is my take: This song seems to be about them losing The Rev. It doesn't really make sense, but I recall A7x saying that the lyrical direction shifted after he passed, so it's possible they were changed a bit, leading me to think this. And so here is why I think this: Opening lines are "Dragged ya down below, down to the Devil's Show. To be his guest forever." Pretty straightforward, someone's died and gone to hell. Then, you see a lot of things which make you think that they song is talking about how it's a Nightmare that Jimmy's gone, and how they miss him. Some things are -M. Shadows is rolled on a gurney passed a wrecked drumset in the hallway. -You see a girl clapping, who's eyes get wide, like in the "Bat Country" video. -You can see Zacky dancing with a skeleton, much in the same way as the "Afterlife" video. It's almost like they're trying to re-live the times that they had the Rev. Some other key lines are: -"Hate to twist your mind, but God ain't on your side, An old acquaintance severed" (Could be referring to losing God, but also a close friend, ex; Jimmy) -"'Cause men like you have such an easy soul to steal" (Possibly means that they're going crazy because those who have suffered a loss are easy to influence, they're vulnerable) - The Chorus, "You should have known..." to "It's your fucking Nightmare!" (Seems like it means that it hurts for them to admit that he's gone, and he belongs where he is. Also, the last part of "While your Nightmare Comes to Life" kind of reiterates the whole, "It's really happening" thing.) -The next verses, "Can't wake up in sweat" to "Beyond the will to fight, Where all that's wrong is right" Makes me think of a person/people who can't wake up from the Nightmare, The 'Will to fight...Wrong is right' part just sounds like someone who's crushed, and can't make sense of the world. -Then there's a extra part to the chorus, which is "No one to call, everybody to fear; Your tragic fate is looking so clear" (Sounds like the guys coming to terms, and understanding what happened.) -Then the final 'verse' before the last chorus, "And I know you hear their voices...And I know they may seem real...But our life's made up of choices...They took for granted your soul, and now it's ours to steal. This one sounds like it's coming from the afterlife itself. It's as if it's telling them, "You try to believe he's still with you, but he's not. The choices you've all made led to this. You took his presence for granted, and now he's mine." Finally, it ends with a shot of a drumset decked out in the A7x logo. So, that's my interpretation; How the loss of a 'brother' made life a living Nightmare. Any thoughts? |

| Godsmack – Cryin' Like a Bitch Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I'm not sure if the Nikki Sixx thing is true or not, though from what I heard/seen, it's possible, and probable. SO I'm leaning toward that. But if you watch the video, It seems like it's about some arrogant ass acting as if he's the toughest thing in the world. And as soon as he gets his ass handed to him, he starts cryin like a bitch. |
