It's easy to see why Rihanna would agree to sing this song. This song is about both of an abusive relationships. Eminem (the abusive party) describes his rocky relationship with Kim obviously, and Rihanna (the abused one)shows her reasoning of why she stayed with Chris. Eminem is obviously rapping about how he feels about Kim. She makes him made and he does horrible things, but he loves her. He is saying why he behaves that way with her. It doesn't matter if it is right or wrong, it is about what he is feeling when it happens. Rihanna isn't going for redemption or to be a role model. She is saying this is why she stayed. In the end she loved him and she believed the lies of how it wouldn't happen again because she liked the lie. she wanted to believe things would get better. A lot of abused women stay because the guy continually lies and says they won't do it again. The women want to believe that it won't. Rihanna doesn't need to send a message to redeem herself or justify what happened, but she can say why she stayed. This song is about both sides of an abusive relationship and it makes sense why these two artists would collaborate on it. |
