Newsboys – Breakfast Lyrics 13 years ago
Stop arguing and stay focused on the meaning of the song, people! That's what the whole point of this website is, after all. Personally I think this song is talking about how even if you're having a bad day (for example burned toast and sour milk at breakfast), you should be thankful that at least you aren't in hell, which is way worse. Quirky song with a serious message; I love how the Newsboys can do that.

I signed in here in order to post a comment on this song based off of what I heard that John Cooper said about it at a recent show. But it looks like lilphil and nashgirl beat me to it. It is indeed about a young couple and abortion, although I'm not sure that lilphil's statement that the couple was John and his girlfriend is necessarily correct. Great song, nonetheless....

Craig Morgan – This Ain't Nothin' Lyrics 13 years ago
Whoops, sorry about that screw-up in the 2nd verse. I'm still learning how to post lyrics on here. Anyway, to me this song is all about perspective, and appreciating what you have. It's about how people and relationships are more important than material objects like houses. Great song.

Haste the Day – Chorus of Angels Lyrics 13 years ago
This song is absolutely gorgeous. I can almost get a sense of eternity when I listen to it, of something way beyond this earth. I think it's basically a prayer to God to send revival and pour out the Holy Spirit, and make an end of sin. And of course, also, to send angels to sing and "wake up the beautiful sleeping world." Fantastic song.

Obviously a breakup song, written from the perspective of the one who's actually upset about the relationship ending. Sad song, but SOOO catchy....

12 Stones – Lie To Me Lyrics 13 years ago
I think ascribe2thelord and thsathlete93 have good points. I'm not trying to overspiritualize here; I think this song is primarily about a person who let someone down. But I do also wonder if it could have a double meaning about Satan, or the deceitfulness of addiction. Definitely my favorite 12 Stones song along with The Way I Feel.

Miranda Lambert – The House That Built Me Lyrics 13 years ago
I love this song; it has such a nostolgic, bittersweet vibe. It's a great outlet for feelings of loss and sadness. It seems to be about someone who tries to revisit her past to find healing for herself, but even at the end it still isn't clear if she found it or not.

Miranda Lambert – The House That Built Me Lyrics 13 years ago
Yeah that's kinda what I love about this song; it doesn't really leave you with the assurance that she found what she was looking for. It ends on the same bittersweet note that it starts with. It's depressing in a way, but also kind of cathartic. It's an outlet for feelings of loss and sadness. And also I wanted to tell you that that's an interesting connection to the parable of the Prodigal Son that you mentioned. That's one of my very favorite of Christ's parables in the Bible.

That's a saying. It just means that she's now a stranger to whoever's living in her old house. And that's funny that you compared this song to "American Honey", because I've thought for awhile that the two songs have some similar qualities. "American Honey" is a little happier than this one though.

Lady A – American Honey Lyrics 13 years ago
This song sounds to me like it's about a young lady who was raised out in the country with good character qualities. I love the line that says "So innocent, pure, and sweet/American Honey." It's so beautiful and poetic. One of my all-time favorite country songs.

Johnny Cash – (Ghost) Riders in the Sky (Stan Jones cover) Lyrics 13 years ago
This is probably my favorite Johnny Cash song. It's such an epic blend of country and fantasy. My dad said it was written about desperados getting judged for their evil ways. Makes sense to me...man Cash is really something.

Johnny Cash – Ring of Fire Lyrics 13 years ago
Wow, there's some strange interpretations of this song here alright. To me it's simply about falling in love. Love is like a fire; it burns you up on the inside and takes control of your life.

The Letter Black – Moving On Lyrics 13 years ago
Sarah said that she wrote this song when she was really young, like between 13-15 I think. She said it's about how she put her trust in some people that ended up betraying her and letting her down. For a while she had built up walls of bitterness and unforgiveness in her heart, but eventually she realized that it actually takes more strength to forgive someone and move on than it does to hold anger against them. And that's what inspired her to write this song.

Sarah said at a concert that this song is for people who are struggling with depression.
