| This Town Needs Guns – Left Aligned Lyrics | 13 years ago |

When a video of them playing this live first came out, it rocked my socks right off! It even surprised me that Henry was also filling in for bass duties along with vocals now. This song is one of their most well composed, and possibly the first TTNG song where the bass really stands out. It's too bad Jamie left the band, he seemed to be more creative with his basslines than the guy who recorded Animals with them. But I guess each album has its strengths and weaknesses. |

| This Town Needs Guns – Cat Fantastic Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think this song's pretty much about superficiality and how people define themselves with the accumiliation of useless stuff. We'll pretty much be happier if we all learned to share. | |

What matters the most is the backdrop ghost circling your floating corpse at the end of the haunt Backdrop is actually "bad joke" in the lyrics book |

That sweet little redhead's got her hooks in my back She points her finger and she shows me what I lack Her pale skin, it burns so hot in the midnight air She paints the streets a shade of grey around my chair Her hot breath on my skin Her scent on my fingers Her taste is on my mind It constantly lingers Till I can breathe her Till I can believe her Till I can grieve her Till I can leave her Every kiss is a little sickening I can feel death's fingers quickening Tightening my passage ways If you can't count the years Then start counting days Try to remember she hates you, and though she might elate you She tries to kill the great that's in you now She's hand picked the fate that awaits you, but despite her words It's not too late I wrote a goddamn love song to praise everything I hate And the kids were wanting a chorus line and they sealed my picture's frame She might run shit for right now, but I'll be damned if it's forever and always As the chorus fades away like friends in high school hallways Oh I got this feeling that things will never ever be the same "What about those rainy nights in London? What about the crippling desert heart? What about all those times you swore you'd never leave me?" "What about the hospital in LA?" "You took me back after that night" "What about that blackened image in my mind?" "I swear I'll burn with a new light" "What the frozen, dripping holiday bird that's cold?" She's cold as ice |

| Just like how Stay Now is the sadder side to Wish I, I think Flying High is the sad side to Falling For You. | |
| Jem – I Always Knew Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Jem is one of the rare pop musicians who are this flexible. Her albums are filled with so much variety, from ballads, to ambient music, much more, and finally trip hop, which is what style this song is in. It's perfect! Basically how I feel about her compared to all the other female pop stars who sell their souls for sexualized commercialism. Jem is about integrity and honesty! This song is about her journey to establish her place as a musician in the verses, and the chorus is about her continued journey to top all the corperate fat cats with her superior genuine music. | |
| Jem – And So I Pray Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I love how soothing this song. To me, it basically means to spend a peaceful day alone, with one's mind rid of all the general toils people usually obsess over. When she says "to disappear if only for a day" I dunno why but it sounds so canon and really touches me inside. | |

The second verse actually starts with "I can't believe the irony" as opposed to agony. |

Monday, July 07, 2008 lyrics 1 This song is a story about traveling salesmen from the post Civil War era exploiting the poverty that followed (we've all taken Jr. High social studies). The basic theme of the story is to point out that a person is a salesman most of the day, selling their personal brand, to members of the opposite sex, or same sex for that matter, co-workers, friends, etc. It's also about the fact that we, most of the time, pretend that this type of interaction doesn't exist. I'm not saying that it's a good or bad thing (that theme will run throughout the record) just pointing it out. Some sexual encounters are good examples of this because this pitch is so exaggerated but not acknowledged, and may end up more resembling a political debate. That's where the line "You and I are just Charlatans" originated. I'm gonna leave the rest up to interpretation but if you have any questions feel free to message us or ask at a show. We'll be posting more dates in a few days. The release date should be coming soon as well. Kyle Read more: http://www.myspace.com/thestilettoformal/blog?page=3#ixzz0vNsQzx15 |

| The Stiletto Formal – Nightcap at the Santa-Fe Lyrics | 15 years ago |

from The Stiletto Formal Myspace blog Thursday, July 17, 2008 lyrics 2 This song is about a young couple that elopes to Vegas. I wanted to write something romantic but in a post-modern, somewhat trashy way and the shotgun wedding is what came out. I also have some personal ties to Vegas and the sometimes chaotic nature of the song felt right for it. I don't know why but it felt like the marriage should last but I had to make it fall apart. It's the cynic in me. P.s. the Santa Fe is a real Casino on the outskirts of Vegas and the "hand" reference is definitely talking about a card game but I like the play on words . I'm surprised at the lack of Dallas' amazing lyrics. I know it's hard to decipher because of his slurring, but I was one of the first few people to listen attentively and help the AoF message board decipher Dallas' lyrics together. Originally, Dallas' lyrics were just posted below George's, but to my gratitude, an updated version where it's Dallas AND George lyrics in the same lyric sequence has been made and here it is. This is really only all we have: (Bury all of me) Daytime. Twilight. Pitch black. Night light. (Before I have a chance) Coldest eyes, and the softest touch. (To open my eyes and see you laughing.) Daytime. Twilight. Pitch black. Night light. These typed letters. (Is this all we have?) Beneath me. (Or is this all just twilight beyond the skyline) Fuck with these buttons and knobs long enough (Blinding me) And maybe things will... turn out fine. Hide behind your crystal screen And blow kisses at me. (Remember what we said wouldn't happen?) Go. Write your name on my chest in kerosene. Spark a match, and you won't be cold again. This is really only all we have: Daytime. Twilight. Pitch black. Night light. Coldest eyes. You had the coldest eyes, and the softest touch. Daytime. Twilight. Pitch black. Light! Gag and... destroy me. Gag and... destroy me. (Sorry I didn't hear you) I have a (I was busy dying in the corner) Collection of thunder that I stole (Those three words) I stole. That I stole. (Destroyed every inch of me yet you keep...) From your windowsill. (...Speaking) Stole... right through your windowsill. |
