some lines were skipped: Baby, get up Open your eyes now the world's waking up you realize we'll walk to the beat so suddenly while we make believe that this will last forever We won't sleep 'til 3 in the morning this song speaks and it's saying the real thing it feels like we're living a dream but tonight we're gonna make this one right We'll set the stage and let the records play on a Saturday and we can dance forever we'll burn the light that makes the city sway when we set the stage and we can dance forever (forever X7) and we can dance together We're crazy enough to feel alive now you've got the stuff when we arrive we'll walk to the beat so suddenly and then you tell me that we could stay together We won't sleep 'til 3 in the morning this song speaks and it's saying the real thing it feels like we're living a dream but tonight we're gonna make this one right We'll set the stage and let the records play on a Saturday and we can dance forever we'll burn the light that makes the city sway when we set the stage and we can dance forever (forever X7) and we can dance together Turn around just move it with your feet on the ground you'll prove it when you hear the sounds we'll both lose it then we'll make the rounds to dance forever And when the music stops And we can't wait for another day Well, we'll just dance forever We'll hold on tight and think of Saturdays if you say my name Then we can dance forever We'll set the stage and let the records play on a Saturday and we can dance forever we'll burn the light that makes the city sway when we set the stage and we can dance forever (forever x7) and we can dance forever got these lyrics from http://www.elyrics.net/read/a/allstar-weekend-lyrics/dance-forever-lyrics.html, slightly modified them too. Anyways, my interpretation of its meaning: Its a fun, catchy song, but I feel it has a deeper meaning. Its about two people whose relationship is not really working out. The guy knows that this will probably not work out, as indicated when he says "while we make believe this will last forever." This also shows that he wants it to work out, as also evidenced by: "and then you tell me we will stay together." Dance and music seems to be what brought the two people together - a common interest. They enjoy dancing together, and the guy is yearning for those times when they would dance and have fun together, and wishes they can just dance forever without worrying about other things that are hindering their relationship. my favorite part: And when the music stops And we can't wait for another day Well, we'll just dance forever We'll hold on tight and think of Saturdays if you say my name Then we can dance forever This part of the song, in my opinion, is the most important bit: this part doesn't have the same catchy upbeat melody as the rest of the song - it is more him saying rather than singing, and it has a hopeful, confident tone to it. It is a very metaphorical part of the song: music represents the harmony in their relationship, and he is anticipating it will end, and they will leave each other. He doesn't want this, so he proposed that they 'dance forever', as in think about the happy parts in their time together. The last line means that if she 'says his name', or acknowledges that he is her love, and keeps it that way, then they will dance forever - they will stay together. |

| Plain White T's – A Lonely September Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This song is sad - the singer is expressing his feelings for someone he still loves dearly, but knows that having a relationship with that person will not work out. "One thought of you is all it takes To leave the rest of the world behind" I love this part, because it shows deeply he has fallen in with this girl, and she is truly the only thing that he can think about. She is his obsession, as he once was, too. She means the world to him, and once he meant the same to her, and the most painful part is that he knows this - and he knows that she doesn't feel this way anymore, even though he wishes that she did. This is shown in these lyrics as well: "And I didn't mean to fall in love, but I did And you didn't mean to love me back But I know you did" The title of this song is "A Lonely September." This can be taken literally, as in: it is now September, and he is this situation. However, a more metaphorical meaning I drew from it was this: In school, businesses and generally many people's lives, September is the month of beginnings, where the cycle of their life begins anew. He is back to a beginning, when he was single and didn't have his love, and it is a lonely feeling. This song has an incredible amount of meaning to me. The title itself has vast meaning, both literal and figurative. It is September, and the person that I loved, and still love, broke up with me. A lonely month indeed - and a lonely way to begin another year at college. The lyrics feel like they are perfect for us - because I know that she loved me once, loved me so much. I meant everything to her. I was her world. In short, I was everything that she still is to me, now. "I'm sittin' here tryin' to convince myself that you're not the one for me but the more I think, the less I believe it and the more I want you here with me" One day, I'll believe it. |

I think this is a very delightful and amusing song about a dentist visit. I suppose you can try to extract meaning, but why try to attach symbolism? It's meaning is fine as it is, and you might 'make up' symbolism that doesn't really exist but is a result of over-thinking a simple song =) Favorite lines: And with a smirk he says "don't have a fit, this'll just pinch a bit," as he tries not to grin Excellent flow in these two lines! |
