Well, this is what I got from the song: "So scared of breaking it But you wont let it bend And I wrote two hundred letters I wont ever send" To me, that set the pace for the whole song. I think that they had problems in their relationship- she was controlling (but didn't want him to leave), and he was too passive. They were different. "So let me be and I'll set you free I am in misery" He wishes he could get her out of his mind so he can move on. He gave up on it (or she did) momentarily, and he feels regret (he's "in misery"). There ain't no other Who can comfort me He really loves her, he feels that no one can be there for him like she was. "Your salty skin and how it mixes in with mine... completely intertwined" He's reflecting on how similar they really were, and what a close connection they had despite their problems. "It's not that I didn't care It's that I didn't know It's not what I didn't feel, It's what I didn't show" This is kind of reiterating the first verse. Basically saying how he was too passive. He's explaining that although he really loved her, he failed in showing it. The rest of the song is basically saying how he wants her back... he can't get her out of his head! |
