Surely this song is about thw prostitutes Johnson has known selling there "red hot" tamales? There are few telling signs: "Would sell you more, but they ain't none of mine." Johnson is himself involved with the others. "You know the monkey, now the baboon playin in the grass Well the monkey stuck his finger in that old 'Good Gulf Gas', now" If that is not suggestive of some sexual reference, I don't know what is. |
