Andrew Bird – Darkmatter Lyrics 15 years ago
I think that contrary to popular belief on this website, the act of shooting through the noose of dna with rays of darkmatter does not suggest escaping death, but rather, the opposite. I think it shows that death is inevitable. The noose of dna around our necks alludes to the natural life cycle that is encoded in human genes ending in death. By saying that you can shoot through this noose with rays of darkmatter says that that it is impossible to esacape death because darkmatter is representative of the unknown, the hypothetical, and the undetectable.

Andrew Bird – Imitosis Lyrics 15 years ago
There are definitely some gnostic qualities to your interpretation particulary concerning the imperfect god or "demiurge." I do dont know if Bird consciously wove this into the song but it is there regardless.

Andrew Bird – Natural Disaster Lyrics 15 years ago
I believe that the lyrics of the song pose a series of ironies that provides the imagery of the so-called "natural disaster". The most profound example of this is Bird's use of the phrase "Anthurium Lacrimae decays underneath the canopies like a natural disaster." Anthurium is a genus of flower that thrives in moist, organic compost, and Lacrimae is Latin for tears. Therefore, this type of flower should theoretically give life to itself. By being a flower of tears, it should thrive on its own despite the conditions present. By saying that this flower decays, Bird is showing the scope of this fictional "natural disaster." Also, way to copy and paste your interpretation straight off a website Cyberghost.
