this song is off the album,The Emptiness... It's based on the wonderful poem written by Edgar Allan Poe. The story The story that The Emptiness revolves around was written by Dennis Lee and Shawn Milke. It is inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's last poem "Annabel Lee". The short story is included in the album jacket. The Plot The central character of the story, a sketch artist known simply as "The Artist" wakes up one day to find his lover, Annabel, dead, lying next to him. Heartbroken and terrified, he buries her in his basement and flees. He wanders aimlessly until he comes to a tavern, where he hears the sounds of merriment and laughter. He decides that if he can't be happy no one can and slaughters everyone in the tavern. After wandering through many places and finding Annabel's killer, "The Thespian", at the end of the story The Artist finally comes face to face with him to fight to the death. He is stabbed in his side with a dagger and finds himself in a room with Annabel holding a dagger in hand. From here on the story's point of view switches from The Artist to Annabel where she explains that The Artist had slowly been sinking into madness all this while, as he became more and more withdrawn and his sketches more and more violent. Though she loved him, in the end she had to take his life in the attempt to defend herself from him. |

| Um personally i know this is going to weird,but i almost think this song was written for the Skelanimal company when they were first coming out. A few years ago when the Skelanimal company made a myspace i added it and this was there display song for the page. And they had a picture of Family Force 5 with a bunch of Skelanimals. It was really cute ^_^ --this song was what got me into FF5 i never knew about them until skelanimals :) | |

This is just ''my view'' and thoughts on the song. To ''me'' this song symblozies satan. ''We're all in hell Laughing in your misery The desperate fade to black and it suits me well'' Let's take those piece by piece for a sec. We're all in hell,laughing in your misery. --The desperate fade to black and it suits me well. Just those lines alone make me think of satan. When he says the desperate fade to black and it suits me well,it makes me think as if he is saying the lonly,the desperate people that want to be someone in this world but die not making it,they fade to darkness and are consumed by sorrow and ''black''. ''We're all in hell,laughing in your misery'' ---As in,evil feeds off sorrow and sadness. Joy comes from misery to the evil. If this was referring to hell on earth and how he wants to give up on life and etc. why would he be laughing about the sorrow and sadness taking place? -H |
