| Everclear – Summerland Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I think this song kind of takes after "Hand in Glove" by The Smiths in its meaning. I see it as a couple who does whatever they want, despite what the outside world thinks. However dangerous the path may be, they are still together and in their own little twisted world of love. | |
| Everclear – Everything To Everyone Lyrics | 12 years ago |

This song is about a people pleaser who takes it to the extreme. Reminds me of my ex, really. She has a group of friends who occasionally used her and stole stuff from her, and the next day, everything would be all hunky dory. She does whatever she can to fit in. I always defended her and was there for her, but in the end, she chose them over me. Perhaps Art was in the same situation as me? It's possible. |

Gorgeous song indeed. It does seem to be about the girl he just can't have, and he half laments that fact, half accepts it as a lesson. I love the oriental leads in this song; so delicate and beautiful! |

Ditto that. What a gorgeous song. Sounds like it's about a major past relationship, possibly the girl he lost his virginity to. |

I heard somewhere that this song is about witnessing a UFO. The bizarre music and confused lyrics seem to perfectly convey a sense of vertigo. Almost like climbing and climbing without actually ascending. "I am blind/ Speaking a phrase" That line seems to refer to the possible opening of an extraterrestrial spacecraft and subsequent "blinding" of the writer who witnessed it, due to the lighting inside the ship. Then, the writer can hear some sort of jargon, "Speaking a phrase." That's just my two cents. |

| Soundgarden – Blow Up the Outside World Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I think it's about the infatuation, obsession, and dissolution of a relationship. Not necessarily in that order. "Nothing seems to kill me, No matter how hard I try..." That line seems to be about feeling loss, and consequently, wanting to lose himself. "I've given everything I need, I'd give you everything I own, I'd give in if it could at least be our's alone..." That line is obviously pertaining to what he sacrificed and would sacrifice for his love. The last line is talking about some sort of compromise. Perhaps his love wasn't on the same level as he was, and he was doing anything to hold onto her. "Blow up the outside world." To me, that means being inside of your own little world with someone special. When you're at the peak of infatuation, that's exactly how you feel. Fuck the world, fuck what everyone thinks. Just feed off the love and happiness of your significant other. That's the sacred language of love. Upon losing such a wonderful thing, one can feel down and even self-destructive. I'm only writing this from my own perspective, but I totally picture this in my mind when I hear Cornell sing these words. Love can be heavenly or apocalyptic. |

| Soundgarden – Zero Chance Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think it's about learning to live with loneliness. Having to accept it as not only a reality, but as THE reality. Accepting that, in life, all romantic relationships will come to an end and you'll end up at square one all over again. Chris seems to have the exact same mindset as myself on this topic. Maybe it's a natural component of personality, maybe it's a result of having major depressive disorder. It's believing that nothing will ever come, and if it does, it's not here to stay. | |
| Soundgarden – A Thousand Days Before Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I can't believe no one's commented on this excellent song yet! I'll break the ice: I think this song is typical of Cornell's "Me-against-the-world" attitude. Born imperfect into a life with many tears, and you have no one to depend on but yourself. Referring to the song's title, I think he's talking about how he conquered his battles that occurred a thousand days before. And in the end, he'll stand alone, but he'll still be standing. |

| The Offspring – She's Got Issues Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| That sounds rather similar to my last ex. I loved her like crazy, and at first it was great, but she gradually showed signs that she wasn't "into" me. Even though she told me she loved me "forever." She went out of town to work the summer, and from there, it fell apart. She drifted apart from me and always put her friends first. We had a bitter breakup, and she made me look like the enemy. It was bullshit. Alone forever, lol | |
| Soundgarden – The Day I Tried to Live Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
This song is a classic. I prefer this to Black Hole Sun, actually. Anywho, it sounds like it's about battling solitude. Like, a person who normally spends most of their time by themself decides to go out one day and "try to live" like most others do. But something goes wrong, and they end up feeling worse off than if they had spent their time all alone. The person regrets this decision. |
