Muse – Prague (Mega City Four cover) Lyrics 14 years ago
This is such an incredible and beautiful song, it's unlike Muse to make the lyrics so straightforward and... understandable. They're usually metaphors, so it's clear that this is a cover. But that doesn't make it any less amazing!!!

Matt wrote this after losing his girlfriend of several years. Gaia, I think she was called.

So sad for Matt when I hear it... :'( but now he has found new love :)))

OneRepublic – Someone To Save You Lyrics 15 years ago
I think it's about a friend who is depressed after a sad event, perhaps a breakup, and it's not the end of the world, nothing can change what's happened, and that the person needs to let it go. "Honesty is what you need"- The person needs to let out their feelings and confess everything to someone so that it would make them feel better("spill their heart").

OneRepublic – Mercy Lyrics 15 years ago
He is singing about a tragedy, perhaps a lost love, and how his world crashed down, but somehow mercy still found him and picked him up again. I don't think it has a religious meaning, just that the angel represents a shred of hope, that picks him up so he can move on after a tragedy.

OneRepublic – Sucker Punch Lyrics 15 years ago
No opinions yet? Too bad. I really don't understand this one.

But I can assume. Here's my opinion:

The first few lines suggest that he is depressed and reduced to drugs and such("Habit forming". "colored caffeine, magic", "I'm aware of my fate"). I think it's another love story, how they are "perfectly measured pieces", in other words meant for eachother, but she is still better than him. Possibly she rejects him after all he's said and done, so he has given up and gotten depressed.

But I still don't understand why it's called Sucker Punch!

OneRepublic – Secrets Lyrics 15 years ago
Obviously he is saying that he is sick of keeping secrets, covering them up with perfect lines. He doesn't care how the public will respond("don't care if critics ever jump in line"). He also says that he has no point at keeping those secrets because he's "got no family" and it nudges towards depression. And also, he says he's "sick of all the insincere", obviously. You need to correct that.

I read on a different site that the '???' parts go like this:

And everyday I see the news
All the problems we could solve
And when a situation rises
Just write it into an album
Send it straight to gold,
I don't really like my flow, no, so..

I'm not sure if it's correct, but if it is I think he's saying that he is aware of the problems in the world but there isn't much he can do about it, so he used to make the best of it "writing an album and sending it straight to gold", and he isn't proud of it. The "I don't really like my flow" part comes back to being sick of keeping secrets and leading a life full of lies.

OneRepublic – Marchin' On Lyrics 15 years ago
Not all One Republic songs have to do with love, I don't think this one has any romance to it. It's simply about life, having ups and downs, facing obstacles and overcoming them.

The "There isn't a flag I'd wave" part, I think he is saying he is never taking a side, although it's hard to connect with the meaning.

"Right, right, right; right, left, right": At first I thought was just for the rhythm, but I think it's about how things don't always go smoothly as they should(right, left, right, left) but sometimes the road gets bumpy and we take time to straighten out problems, so we don't move on to the "left" for some time.

The "I'd sink us to swim" part I still don't understand. Can someone clarify?

OneRepublic – Prodigal Lyrics 15 years ago
I love One Republic. Not only do they have great rythm to their songs, but their lyrics have such deep meaning, that for most of the songs I will probably never understand, as much as I struggle to. That's why I also have great respect for them. I need interpretation for most of their lyrics, but here is what I think about this song:

I think it's about him going away and having to leave his loved one against his will. Hence,"Not far from here You see me crack like a bone, like a bone I'm so breakable". But even though he's leaving, she will wait, and even if he'd "take everything from her" she still wouldn't stop loving him and waiting. And he is ashamed and feels like a prodigal because he is leaving his loved one and doesn't want it himself. He is not asking her to wait, but she still does.

At first I thought this song was boring, but when I looked deeper it almost makes me cry.

I don't know about the Christian part though, as I'm atheist and don't know much about Bible stories.
