I hear, "...the only change is: I'm not fuckin around," *don't hear unholy change "I've come to realize life is not love with someone" because "ordinary people are everywhere." He could fall in love with anyone; it doesn't matter who; life isn't about obsessions with one person; it's about following your interests. all that really matters is loving yourself no matter where you are, who you are with. and as long as he's doing what he wants, nothing can touch him, or hurt him, not even death. The last part "apparitions gone awry, they surround me, all sides...the only change is: I'm not fuckin around..." The only way to be well is it do what you want; not to depend on anyone, or any obsessions, not even jesus. thats my 2 cents. good song |

"I need a man that thinks it's right when it's all wrong tonight" A lot of people think she wants to die, "on the edge", with a man. That very well could be true. But I feel it carries on several meanings. Ultimately, she's having fun whilst taking chances. But more literally, she's entertaining the idea of an inquisitive guy, who's "stupidity" can go either way. It's kind of a rare thing (at least for me) - you meet a really friendly person, and you don't really know about them - what they stand for, how much potential they have for sticking to what they stand for - but, if you're inquisitive and curious enough, you may wonder if they're thinking the same thing - "is this person basically good?" Then, you choose to have a sense of humor about it, and end up being more of yourself than you would have thought possible in such an interaction. I think that's one of the "edges" (if you will) that she's talking about - pushing herself to the edge with this guy and being content with it - his choices could be indicative of how stupid he really is or how risk-taking he is. But she doesn't want to decide between the two, so she decides to stay on the edge where there's JUST potential ;). A sidenote: I feel that more and more people are becoming comfortable with "risk" not connoting "stressful"; rather "fun" or "interesting" now. However, I could just be coming alive, myself. Or it could be because I've recently moved to such a liberal place. Who knows? Isn't that part of the fun in life? Playing with different ideas... |

| wow that very last verse is interesting...it's like she wants to be focused in on, but like she wants to be seen only in the light of things. and the last two lines seem like she's risking her sanity (maybe i wouldnt go that far) to stay in her dream, or stay in the scene, to keep going with whatever she's doing probably imagination-wise to put out a product, such as this song...god the whole song..sad and sweet. what do you call that? sappy? | |

i don't know if it's an ode to her husband so much as an ode to alcohol, or brands. lol. but yeah, this song is THE shit ! it feels like an awesome collaboration. on that note, the whole m.i.a. backlash/hatred is weird...i actually only created this account because i was listening to her new album, and then read all these album reviews of it, and felt super inclined to defend her, because her new album makes sense to me and everyone else is just reading too much into these album reviews which are just rip-offs of other album reviews. just fuckin pick up MAYA for yourself. listen to it for yourself. |
