Let's clear something up some people seem to think this song is about heroin and that the BBC banned it. Although the lyrics are ambiguous, and the drugs thing plausible. The song is actually about poo! And the BBC did not ban it. It got to number 2 in the hit parade (so ironic!) and t was on Top of the Plops! One of the best songs about poo ever! |

| It seems to me, like many Sott Walker songs to be very personal, so probably uninterpretable, though there are obvious illusions to Amsterdam, someone seeing an 'older woman' for what she once was. Something about it makes me think of an historical figure rather than an allegorical one, but maybe that's a red herring. | |
