This song was written about Frank's dad, who had an affair with a young woman and got her pregnant, and was forced to live a double life, lying awake - in two senses of the word. It's pretty clear that 'Every father's day spent wondering how the hell you are' is Frank expressing his anger at his father's absense later in his youth. |
