I feel like I'm in an emotional rut right now. This song is perfect for me. I love this song, and it makes me really think abut what's important and what I should do with everything that's on my plate right now. |

This song is really beautiful and I love it. Shinedown is my favorite band, and they really pull off every song they write.
This song is very emotional and has a very strong vibe to it. I haven't decifered the meaning all the way yet, but I'm still working on it. When I come up with something I'll tell you. |

Idk what the real meaning is, but Brent would never sing anything political like lawyers. Secondly, I remember when seeing Shinedown in concert Brent introduced this song and said that he realized he only had one real hero in his life, and that was his dad. I can't remember if he said he had died or not, though. |

| Shinedown – The Crow And The Butterfly Lyrics

I think I get that it's about a mother losing her baby. I've watched the music video, and a young man hands a woman a locket of her and her baby at the end. The video is set in old, fancy times, and everyone except her and the young man, do like everything in perfect sync, even eating.
The song seems to be from the guys perspective, but watching the video makes it feel like the woman's perspective, and it realy is.
The really interesting thing about the video is at the end, the band members stand in front of the woman, who's on her knees. Brent helps her stand up, then they all walk away, as does the young man. It's a confusing music video, but that's why I like them!
Please help me figure this one out, I'd really like to know! |

| Shinedown – Tie Your Mother Down (Queen cover) Lyrics

Ok totally sorry some of the lyrics are off, just puttin it out there now. And I'm so glad there's finally an internet site that has this song. Ususally if you look up Shinedown songs, Tie Your Mother Down isn't on the list. But I put them here, and here they are!
This song is only found on youtube, which seems to be the same for dirthouse (it's the only place I've seen both of them), so I found it unfair. If I'm wrong, and these songs are somewhere else, please correct me!
One last thing, this is not a normal Shinedown song. They usually don't sing this kind of thing, so nobody think that Shinedown is changing their stuff! Rock on, Shinedown. |

Ok yes Brent Smith cusses in this song, as he does in Sound of Madness and Energy. Besides that, he's cuss-free, which is totally awesome.
Brent Smith told us in Reno that this song is about a friend of his that took cyanide and killed herself through it. Not much more to be said. She was like 31 or something. |

First of all it's "what a way to go" not "where'd you go?" or whatever. And secondly, this song is derived from Shinedown's experience in Kuwai (hope it's spelled right) and Iraq when they went out there to perform for the troops.
They risked their lives doing that, for Kuwai was the most deadliest city at the time they went, and people should respect the band a lot for that reason alone. You can tell the song's about war by the lyrics, and the intensity of the song as well. Amazing song, and it sends a message, as do all their songs. Rock on, Shinedown. |

| Shinedown – What a Shame Lyrics

What a Shame is my favorite song ever. This is my interpretation of it:
Brent Smith was related or really close to the guy mentioned. The guy was probably put into hard labor, almost like an immigrant (no offense to anyone), and degraded just because of who he was and where he was from. Alone, he went to drugs and became a heavy drug addict. He died of an overdose maybe, and few people, if any, cared. This is Brent Smith crying out to all those that degraded him telling them the truth. He's crying out at this person's funeral, also asking God to forgive this guy for all his mistakes that he made and accept him as a good person with a big heart.
Nobody understood this poor man that was degraded and Brent Smith cried out to them all, shaming them for their actions. Love this song best ever. Rock on Shinedown. |
