i think she's talking about imperfections... and how it would be boring and bland without them. or kinda sad like a sky w/ out stars. and that you shouldn't want to trade yourself in for a better "perfect" model. How she doesn't think of people's remarks now. She just sees what beautiful in the mirror...not the imperfections...and that her imperfections don't take her back...they make her unique :D |

Many people have different opinions about this soong because it means SO many things to different people. I think she was in a relationship, a person that she loved very much. But she felt that if anything happened to that person, she wouldn't know what to do with herself. Like she didn't know who she was anymore without them, she didn't loose or break up with the person so to say, she left to find herself. And this person "taught her how to trust herself" so that little voice telling her to leave the situation or the relation ship, a voice she would have ignored if this person didn't help her trust herself, she acually listen too. And she loved this person so much, that she felt she didn't KNOW herself anymore... And in the beginning of the song, the first verse, she talking about how she doesn't exactly know if listening to that little voice was the right idea. but i feel in the chorus she's saying that she should know herself but she doesn't. Then she's saying how she thought there were only 2 sides to love, "black or white," but now she knows that if you love someone that much...and you loose yourself as a person you have to leave. And after that it sounds like she's speaking directly to the person this song is intended... andshe's telling her she has to go with her gut feeeling that she wouldn't trust before...that little voice. i seemed to have repeated myself i'm sure...but i love this song...it has so much heart in it :D |
