my interpretation, most closely touched on by 'lost all chance' is not that someone has already died. i feel like this song is about the risk of love. its about the fear of loss. im sure everyone has been in that situation where you start to realize just how intensely you feel about someone and the thought of it not working dawns on you. its a grimly romantic way to weigh the options...is loving her worth all the haunting it will cause him if he loses her? i feel like the song implies that she is alive and all the lyrics about what he has lost is a jolt into his future that he could experience. "i cant always just forget her, but she could try" "if i fall" "could i, should i?" death taken on a much less literal level could mean death in faith, death in love, a broken heart. |
