| Bon Iver – Beth/Rest Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I think the style is certainly very 80s but its superbly done. What a genius to incorporate his style. If you think about it he does use that classic 80s electric sound often, the synth is a new element. | |

i agree on the lyric correction. Superb song, it's beautiful rhythmically and lyrically. I agree it's really simple, King Charles is redefining a boring genre of late. He isn't even doing anything technically difficult but has such a great style that just works. |

Just a thought... The voice of this song could be a man, who's asking himself these questions rather than it being written for a woman. In my opinion it could be a heartbroken man who is struggling to move on from a previous love, and asking himself if his feelings for this new lover are genuine. I believe the line; 'And can you kneel before the king and say I'm clean, I'm clean' reflects this. He's trying to figure out if he could honestly say he's moved on and now loves this person with a clean, pure heart. I believe the rest of the song is directed towards his ex-lover as he tries to come to terms with why it ended. Either way, good lyrics are always ambiguous and this song is beautiful. |

surely the lines; 'at the site of a beautiful woman they feel nothing but anger, her skin makes them sick in the night…nauseaous' disprove your theory, although it is perfectly logical. I believe the above lyrics mean that said man/woman wants to feel something for someone else, they want to enjoy the summer but they can't feel anything for anyone other than the one they miss, hence the 'hallucinating you, babe, at the backs of other women'. Either way... what a beautiful song. |
