Yeah white boy dressed up like a figure. Sure you mean figure. Love this song. The line " the jury is in verdict: retarded." is fucking classic. I think this song is about the current state of popular music. the you think bigger is better but bigger is bigger part might be about how some bands play up their image and try to seem as crazy as possible but it still doesn't make up for mediocre music. The white boy dressed up like a "figure" part is about how bands will follow whatever stupid trend they think will get them famous. The world is round square dont fit at all is about how most of what the mainstream plays is safe mediocre music. Dissapear man do some magic, this makes me think of how i feel about all the nickleback/jonas brother type bands. The jury is in, verdict retarded, well have you listened to the lyrics of the bands they play on MTV now they are retarded. Awesome song and awesome lyrics. QOTSA is one of the only good bands that mainstream radio still plays. |

I really wish they would have used the version with the acoustic guitar on Era Vulgaris, it is a much better version. Anyway my interpretation of this song is it is about a depressed guy who just went through a breakup. When he says don't you want to go into the hollow i think it might be a metaphor for depression. And the don't you want to part is because depression can be a comfortable numbness. I dunno. |

About the music industry and how most bands that are famous today are shit that plays whatever the current trend is. It's also how the record industry screws over bands. When he says make an offer I can't refuse, either way im screwed I think he is referring how you need a record label to go on the radio and get mainstream recognition, but the deals are always bad and take advantage of the musicians. |
