If you listen to the song with the correct lyrics that i posted above, it sounds more like the "thrill" he's after has more to do with the roar of the crowd than the rush of a narcotic. He's saying that after all of his ups and downs throughout his career, even he is surprised that he's still relevant in today's music scene (I can't believe I'm still here, I know I should be dead, yeah, This desperation makes me feel so filthy, But I know if I don't stop I won't feel guilty). The thrill he's so desperate for is being on stage performing for his fans, and he knows that if he never stops then he will never have a reason to be upset with himself. One time to take away all pain One more to turn myself insane One shot to keep me high all day Makes my reality fade away The chorus is him describing the ecstasy of performing in front of thousands, the roar of the crowd and how it keeps him going, and even how surreal it feels for him. If you are a true Ozzy fan, then take your time, listen to his songs, and think outside the box. Not every rock song is about drugs. |

I guess I'll be the first to comment on this one. For me, this definitely seems like a religious type song, with the subject being the Devil, or another evil entity. At the start it seems like its a song about a terrible friend, being your friend only for stupid, material reasons ("Give me your money, I'll sell you my vote") but I believe the "I've been around here for a long long time, I'll be around until your soul is mine, Until your soul is mine" pretty much spells out the religious connections, for me anyway. On a side note, the opening guitar riff seems to be a cover of Seether's "Like Suicide", check it out. |
