The Strokes – Post Modern Girls Lyrics 15 years ago
Best combination ever.

It's talking about a relationship and how so many things are meant but never said and maybe never heard which probably explains why the song is layered and not everything is clear the first time you hear it and with time and after hearing it a lot, you start to understand it.

The lyrics are pretty straight forward.

This couple has some problems like every single couple out there and in the end, they realize that they don't belong with the world they live in but they DO belong together (that's when the song finally harmonizes).

I think it's setting out all of the basic, common fights that couples have and showing the contrary opinions of the woman and the man.

The Strokes – 12:51 Lyrics 15 years ago
I think it's about two kids having sex for the first time.

He's saying, 'we were tense but we was confident' because that's exactly how it is.

He's saying that he's older and that it's not a big deal and then he's saying let's skip the party and just hang out and then later after they've slept together, he's fine with going out together and being together in general.

Great song!

The Strokes – Meet Me In The Bathroom Lyrics 15 years ago
Just want to start off by saying that this is one of my favourite Strokes' songs.

I think it's actually from the guy's point of view.

I think he's talking about how when people say promises, they mean stay true to your relationship and maybe the way he met this girl was because she said, "meet me in the bathroom" and he was figuring that she was saying it to a lot of other people, therefore, not keeping her 'promise'.

I think the uncle line is pretty much a reference to how things don't really change and how it would be great if things changed when he's dead but that he's probably not going to be around to see teenagers change their minds about how sex and an actual relationship RELATE to one another.

He's saying 'never was on time, yes I once was mine. well, that was long ago and darling I don't mind' because he's saying, 'I never wanted a relationship except this one time...but that was a long time ago (as if it wasn't a big deal because it was a long time ago) and then he goes on to try and analyze the failed relationship by saying, 'we were just two friends in lust and baby, that don't mean much.' so that he can recover and try to make himself realize that relationships fail and it happens and since he was just 'in lust' with another girl, he shouldn't make a big deal out of it because she didn't feel the same way.

Obviously the, 'trained me not to love after you showed me what it was' is a reference to a teenager's first heartbreak. He's realizing that this girl doesn't feel the same way and that being heartbroken is not something that someone wants to go through and being a guy, he figures he may as well never fall in love again.

'Now she's staring wide-eyed, can't close her eyes. Anywhere is fine, just don't waste my time' I think it's the guys interpretation of what the girl thinks. He's imagining her hooking up with some other guy the exact same way that she hooked up with him and how she's saying, "Yeah, let's just fuck anywhere because I'm in the mood." and how she's saying 'don't waste my time on trying to pursue a relationship, let's just have some fun.'

The repeated 'Meet me in the bathroom, that's what she said. I don't mind...it's true.' is the guy just thinking about how he was infatuated with her and this is all she wanted: a quick shag in the bathroom and that she had probably done the same thing to other guys too.

The whole song, to sum up this incredibly long analysis, is about some guy who hooked up with a girl at a party, very casually but it meant something to him and how he thought that she felt as deeply about him as he did her and once he found out that she was just into him for the sex and not the relationship, he was heartbroken and the song is pretty much this guy thinking about it over and over in his head just trying to accept the fact that not everyone feels the same way as he does.
