| The Tallest Man on Earth – The Wild Hunt Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This one's pretty easy if you know the topic. The Wild Hunt is an ancient myth. Supposedly, it's a spirit or god leading a host of other spirits, horses, hounds, etc., in a hunt. It is thought to presage war or death for the person who sees it. Not all the lyrics seem completely relevant to the myth, but some do.. "There is a crow moon comin in well you keep looking out It is the hollow month of march now sweeping in Lets watch phenomenon's that rise out of the darkness now" The time is march, which used to be a popular hunting time. The phenomenons are likely the huntsmens' ghosts themselves. "I left my heart to the wild hunt a-comin I live until the call And I plan to be forgotten when I'm gone Yes I'll be leavin' in the fall" It could mean that he has seen or plans to see the wild hunt. He may think he's going to join them, as evidenced by.. "And I will sleep out in the glade just by the giant tree Just to be closer when my spirit's pulled away" Out in the glade is likely where he saw it, or where he plans to die and join the hunt. "I left a nervous little boy out on the trail today He's just a mortal to the shoutin' cavalcade" I don't know who the nervous little boy is, unless it's him. But the "shoutin' cavalcade" is likely the hunters who are implied to be immortal. That's all I was really able to connect to the myth, but the song is very clearly about the Wild Hunt. |
