It makes sense that they mentioned the song's connection with the Uk at their UK concert, since the song is about hard working immigrants, as well as the English nobility. We know America as the land of opportunities for the poor, but we rarely hear about the English aristocracy that made the US their homes. The upper echelons are just as caught up with pedigree and their family history; a history that often dates back to the English colonies. And those bereft of those pedigrees gain some sort of credibility after several generations of hard work. |
