This is a very touching song and one I relate to well, probably my favorite from her. She considers herself an orchid which is a more delicate, beautiful, unique flower compared to a rose which is more durable and common. People mistaken her for a rose because of her strength or the assumption that she is just like everyone else when indeed she is not. She requires "special care". She maybe considered high maintenance to those who are more common, but someone who can see into her true beauty and treasure would understand why she needs so much cause in return she gives so much. Her level of intimacy is far deeper than those who she has been with. At first they admire her and she's even been bowed down to but over time they come to think she is too much to handle and they leave. It takes a unique, deep person to appreciate another unique, deep person. I know because I have this same struggle in my life and that is why I adore this song so much. |

I think this song has a very spiritual vibe to it. The birds of prey are people who can manipulate, control, and prey on you. When you're with them, you are blinded and only see what you want to see, there is no right or wrong, things are blurred. This song has a few occult/MK Ultra themes to it mentioning being lost in a fantasty, falling through the looking glass (Alice In Wonderland), masks, red pill/blue pill (Matrix - waking up to the truth of our reality). In my opinion, she wrote this song about those in control of the music industry and people of that nature. If you don't know what I'm talking about look up the occult symbols and mind control/MK Ultra themes in music (even Christina's). Look up the website Vigilant Citizen. It's a good place to start. |
