| Rise Against – Built To Last Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I see the resistance side to this, i almost think it's more of a rebellion - a revolt from being simply content with life. i think the song is more about doing what's right in your heart and living life for what you believe in... First lines speak to that I think... Talks about pouring yourself into something: Invest time, invest life invest it all, reinvent yourself before you know it your essence is renewed with something fresh The lines: Your will, your way might shape a better day eradicate the stagnancy eradicate it like disease Also mean to me to be better than just 'making' it through life. Erase the stagnancy that most people live by. Don't ever find yourself content - gotta keep getting better, make an 'impact', change the world. Lastly the lines in the chorus: old school or the new doesn't mean shit if your heart ain't true greedy ones faded fast, we're here Built to last Doesn't matter what you're doing if you're not 110% behind it, it's 'us' that will change things. This song is a great embodiement of what I believe 'punk' is all about. Don't expect the world to change, you've gotta do it yourself - follow your heart and grab life by the balls. |
