| Johnny Cash – Hurt (Nine Inch Nails cover) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| I think the meaning in this song, specifically, the version produced by Cash says something more than the original. From a glance, as a NiN song it could be dismissed as a result of youthful angst, but Cash, especially singing this song in his later years with a voice recognized by an older generation gives a challange on focusing on the thoughts produced in the song rather than the tone. It changes the voice of the song from a frustrated person in a hard part of his life, to that of a normal person who has just lost control of the way he lives. | |
| Jonathan Coulton – My Monkey Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| It's also possible that the voice represents fundamentalists and the audience would be Modernists and they're both fighting about a monkey which symbolizes evolution and just exists unknowing of their relationship, and representing truth. | |
| Jonathan Coulton – My Monkey Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
He definately has a monkey. [My monkey butler Brian Dennehy screwed up again and he’s sorry] The phrasing points out that the voice legitimataly has a monkey butler. He named the monkey after award winning actor Brian Dennehy due to the fact that he played Clarence Darrow in the movie Alleged, a movie about the Scopes Monkey Trial. This is probably just to point out how rediculous the monkey is in this whole situation. The person seriously owns a monkey and has an abundance of relationship problems that result from him owning a monkey, he uses as a butler. However, He also has problems with his relationship which are caused by his own character which he refuses to take blame for, and instead tries to push it onto the monkey who is completely innocent. As shown by the humanification of the monkey. This allows him to place all the blame on a monkey, who because he is a monkey, can't be blamed. |

| Millencolin – The Story Of My Life Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
"my belly's big and it's just a start, my appetite is my heart" I think this is the context that this song is based off of. it's not talking about being full of food it's about filling his heart. The song is about him filling his heart with different things and not being able to find something that makes him satisfied, even though he has so many things readily available that should make him happy. "sometimes it feels that I could kill for desert" |

| Sleigh Bells – Rill Rill Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| It's about girly girl stuff. They're in the bathroom playing cards. It's about how girls sort out their probs with their friends. The song isn't about anything significant, they aren't cutters or dope fiends. She keeps mentioning her boyfriend because her friend is trying to psyche her out. And, Because they are gossipy girls. | |

| The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – High School Dance Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| very obviously about a school shooting (already said). The "dance" part comes from media culture (when someone tells somebody to dance as he shoots at their feet). The lyrics are like a mix of Alice Cooper-Schools Out and Boomtown Rats- I Don't Like Mondays. It's relate-able and seems more imagined than real. | |
