| Parkway Drive – Romance Is Dead Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| It's either about a guy who commits suicide after a broken romance, or a guy who kills his former lover and then himself. Or maybe just kills the girl. Definitely some killing and/or suicide action going on. Sick fucking song, greatest fucking band ever. This continues to be one of the greatest songs ever. | |

Love this song. Been listening to Parkway Drive for a year and a half or so, they are by far my favorite band. So I decided to FINALLY give these guys an extensive listen. Was a bit confused by the change in vocalists. I definitely like Crafter though. He has a more understandable and brutal vocal style. Love these lyrics. Clearly a shot at religion, which I can't say I'm unhappy to see. I've been an atheist for four years now, and I understand the message here. I hate how people blindly accept some god and just live their lives in blissful ignorance. They are too weak to live their lives without a belief in some ridiculous higher power, it's pathetic. You have to realize the miracle that is every living being, it isn't as simple as god blinked everything into existence. It just isn't that simple, that's retarded to think. I also hate when religious people tell me I'm going to hell. I don't fucking believe in hell, so fuck off you pathetic person. AMIRIGHT? |

Not only my favorite song of the album, but one of my favorites of all time. The riff is unlike anything I have ever heard, goosebumps every time. I've listened to this song more than 200 times in the few weeks the album has been out, and still love it. Like most songs with hard vocals, it's difficult to nail down the lyrics 100% until you read them. Once I read these lyrics, wow, I'm not ashamed to admit that I was brought to tears: "To the years spent waiting on the winds of change, this is penance paid. This is my penance paid, to the morning Sun, whose warmth never found this young man's face." These lines have tremendous personal meaning to me. |

This album is absolutely next-level good. I don't know my more people don't listen to them, at least in the states. They are the best metal band in the world. They are the full package. The dish out incredible melodies, vocals, and straight-up brutality when they want to. As for this song, I thought for the longest time (Before lyrics were posted on the net) that it was "Shipwrecked BOATS carry my..." but apparently I am wrong and the lyrics are correct. As to the meaning itself, it's another Parkway Drive song the invokes emotion through lyrics about the sea. My best guess as to why they so often make references to the ocean is because they are from Australia, which is relatively small and obviously surrounded by the ocean (like all continents). |
