| I personally think it is about the perspective of a rapist, thus the term "sick, sick, sick". | |

| You guys are all wrong. The song is about a sadomasochistic relationship. I think it's pretty obvious. The lines "I love..." say it all. | |

Think of the story of Romeo and Juliet... The song's mainly about wanting to die with your love and not die "alone". I can relate :/. |

The problem with people is that they think far too much. The song is about infidelity. It's simple. And to clear things up a bit more... The part "Honey why are you calling me so late" is more like a saying for cheaters because their lovers aren't supposed to be calling them after a certain time. |

| The meaning of this song is SO simple-minded. How the fuck could anyone not get it? It's obvious it's about spite caused by betrayal and harsh disappointment. And this song does not "suck"; you just think so because you cannot relate to it nor understand it. And stop calling AFI "emo", you stupid cunts. AFI has NEVER been emo. They were Gothic Hardcore and became "Gothic Industrial". And the reality is "Sing The Sorrows", "Decemberunderground", and "Art Of Drowning" ARE their best albums, and nothing you say will be able to change that. All in all, they have always been gothic aesthetic. And your ignorance and stupidity will probably not allow you to understand that. I pity your imbecility. | |

Alright, so I pretty much know the exact meaning of this song because I am currently experiencing it. As for the opinions on it being about "Jesus", well that's pretty interesting but most likely not what it's about. It's most likely about a relationship (not necessarily dating). So, I'll break it down verse-by-verse. To start off with, I think it is about some form of a sadomasochistic relationship. "Bring your secrets to me. Just give me your hand and I'll let you feel the wounds they put in me." Basically what he's saying is: I know what you've experienced but just be open about it to me, although you'd probably never tell anyone else. I feel your pain. "If you believe in me how can I be dissolving? If you'd believe me I'd tell you everything." This is pretty clear, but the first part is more complicated to explain. It's basically stating how the other person has big-time trust issues. I don't really know how to describe the first part though, sorry. But as for the second line... I guess you could describe it as "romantic", but not really. It's saying how it would only take such a small thing as "trust" to get the other person to tell this person EVERYTHING about himself/herself or his/her life. "Do you fall too? Yes, I fall. Do you want to fall into me? Every time that I try to pacify I fall." What he's saying in "Do you fall too? Yes, I fall part." is: 'Have you also endured lots of pain and abuse in your life? Do you feel it?' The other person's response is 'Yes, I have and I do feel it.' And for "Do you want to fall into me?" is more like: 'Do you want to really get to know me and be a very/pretty important part of my life?' And for "Every time that I try to pacify I fall" is that every time he/she tried to make something better it took the wrong turn. Also symbolizing past hurts and how it's corrupted him/her. "Silence can you hear me? Press me to your lips and I'll suck the poison out. Who will heal me?" I'm really not so sure what "Silence" means here but I think it is referring to the other person. The "press me to your lips" part is most likely nothing but a metaphor, but it could also be referring to a kiss. As for "I'll suck the poison out. Who will heal me?" he's basically saying: 'Bring me closer to you and I can make you feel clean and innocent again. I know you've undergone several bad things throughout your life. I can make you feel better. I'll be your true friend and savior/salvation, but who will be mine?' "If you keep killing me how can I keep absolving? Your sins into me, begin the poisoning." As for the first line, there's where the sadomasochism comes in. He is the masochist in this relationship, taking in all the abuse and hurt and yet, strangely enough, it somehow brings him some strange form of bliss. For the second line, it's basically saying 'Take out all your pain on me. It'll hurt but it won't bother.' For example: Cyanide-- it is a poison used for death. Since it is only a liquid, you die but you feel nothing. "Time, we're not waiting. Time, we're no one." I honestly don't really know what the first line means. I don't really think it means anything, actually. I think it's just pretty much there to be there. People do that sometimes. And the second line is a bit more personal. It's basically stating their low self-esteem and how they se themselves as no one and nothing in this world and very insignificant. All in all, it's basically just a about a relationship how one feels worthless (to the other person) and how the other person is like overly important to him and like how he would go to pretty great lengths just to satisfy that person. |
