this song always makes me sad listening to it. it is a very moving song for me and i feel that it is a very strong song. the way it is sung and the words that it is composed of imply death and sadness even though those words in particular are not used that is what the song makes me feel. i have heard that it is also in 'the rabit proof fence' im not sure if it is. |

I love this song, it is beautiful :) It is lovley to think that this could (and does) acctually happen to people. Most people who you meet when you are a kid you forget and leave behind and most relationships these days dont last. Hearing this reminds me that fairy tales can come true. it is such a beautiful song!! I love it!! :) |

i love this part of the song because it describes me and my best friend who i met on her first day at our school and we were instantly best friends and we laugh at the girls who think they are cool but aren't and we cant wait to get out of here and see the world. also because on my frist day of high school i actually sat next to a girl called abigail and we becanme good friends almost straight away :)

i love my mum so much!!! this song always makes me think about the things she does that i dont eeven realise at the time. "I know you were on my side even when I was wrong" this is one of my favourite lines, because a lot of the time you don't realise it until you look back and realise that she was always there for you. i can relate to most of this song (apart from come home crying (coz i dont cry infront of ppl) and window shopping (coz i dont like to shop)) my mum means the world to me and i just don't tell her enough how much she ,eans to me. I love this song!! :) |

i get where you are coming from but to me it has always sounded like a mother daughter song and she says "you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world" unless her dad is a pretty lady then i think it is about her mum. im not trying to be mean i totally get where you are coming from especially if you are closer to your dad than your mum so please dont take this the wrong way i just thought i would point that out |

in this particular part of the song she is relating to being only 5 years old. by the trees change in the fall she means all the leaves go golden and fall off the trees. being only 5 she doesn't know why this happens as rachel said she doesn't understand every thing yet but she does know that she had the best day with her mum that day. |

I love this song! especially the part "This was never meant to be the end
Close the book and start again " it is one of my favourite lines in the song. it shows that no matter how hard it is or how much it seems like the end we can keep going, we can turn over a new leaf and start again. it is inspiring! :) |

My grade 6 class performed this song for ANZAC day and to help with our performance our teachers explained to us what the different parts of the song meant. i was fighting not to cry and when the played it for us for the first time it had so much more meaning. Every time i hear this song it reminds me of that day and of my granparents who fought in the war. and i now think of my brother who wiil be sent on the current war very soon. i am scared for him everyday even though he hasn't left yet. I LOVE THIS SONG and it has so much meaning!! |
