I think it's about how he is trying to understand her and is showing that he loves her and that she means everything to him, and he uses 'blue as your eyes' to emphasise how much he loves her, but for some reason or another, the girl doesn't seem to love him that way, or is just simply confused? |

It's certainly about a long distance relationship of some kind and he sings about how he can wait forever but in truth he's finding it really hard to cope but it's worth it just so that in time he can see his girlfriend/wife again.
