At first I liked the Across the Universe version but upon listening to the anthology 3 version I was blown all the way back to the artic. It made me feel...elevated. Like I'm somewhere else. And no I'm the most sober person ever. But this song is just one hell of a trip without the side effects, addiction or legal problems with drugs. |

I think "Rain" symbolizes a bad point in life. And how people just "run and hide" instead of facing it. And then when the sun shines, a good point in life, "they slip into the shade", they don't go enjoy the sun. It's like they can never be happy with anything. But in reality, a person's ability to a difficult situation will determine how they feel and I think that's what John means when he sings "can you hear me, that when it rains or shines, it's just a state of mind". just how we see it. Rain can be beauiftul. Rain, i don't mind. |

When I first heard this song. I thought it was mediocre, I kinda liked the chorus and wasnt into the rap. But then I heard it on the trailer for Charlie St.Cloud the new movie with Zac Efron and then I was blown away. And I love it now. I also used to be pissed at how everyone had it as their fucking status on fcbk. but now I'm really tempted to post it as my status.
As far as the meaning goes. I think it's just B.o.B reflecting on how he felt when he was trying to break into the music industry. It's not just hard work that's required to be famous you need a lot of luck. and it the song's just reflecting on how he felt in those moments of his life. He wouldn't give up. There aren;t any shooting stars to wish on? So fucking what I'll wish on Airplanes.
