| It's called a metaphor, people. Just because someone talks about a needle or something else, they may not mean an actual needle. It could stand for something else. You have to interpret the song on your own, not let the basic lyrics let you believe something entirely off base. Everyone does that in songs, taking heart break or personal problems and creating beautiful lyrics with different words to stand in place of the simple ones. It's called having an opinion and using your head to work through the words and reading between the lines. It's not difficult and if you focus on thinking outside the box, you won't think every song is about an addiction and you'll see music in an entirely new way. Trust me. | |

Totally agree, Stain. I also think it may be talking about coming to terms with something before you can fully move on in life. Such as in the lyrics: You will never feel quite clean in this new skin that you have grown until your old and broken bones are laid into their resting place, just like the rest of human race. I absolutely love Laura Marling and believe she needs to be more commonly known to everyone. Her music is so unique and beautiful. |
