| i think this song is partially about a girl and partially about being young and as someone else said not giving a fuck anymore. "Let's cause a scene, clap our hands and stomp our feet or something, ya something, i just gotta get myself over me." He's saying he wants to have a great time and find something that makes him forget about who he is or who he should be. He's followed the crowd in trying to become someone he's not just to fit in, and is realizing he's even more unhappy than he used to be. i think she means she wants an artsy, slightly dangerous, daring, unrefined guy. but she can't find him. all the guys she knows are only interested in mindless sex. but there is one guy who she feels could be adventurous, but right now he's caught up in mindless ex too and she wants to change that. |

i really understand this song because i feel like this girl is close to my personality. (strangely my name is chelsea..) when i heard this song i was freaked out by how much i felt it was perfect for me. i think that its about this guy waiting around for an interesting pretty perfect girl, and he's sick of all the mindless pretty girls around who arent interesting. this girl "come(s) and goe(s)" and has not been able to commit to anyone and is lost in life just like the author of the song. she insists shes crazy, she's different, and that's exactly what the author likes about her. she is painfully lonely but too strong to admit and he has such a deep understanding for her immediately that he calls her out on it. this song is so romantic and one of my favorites. |

to me the "black and blue eyes" part means this girl is pathetic and beaten up so to speak. I always that that the "chelsea says she's got nowhere to go..." was referring to chelsea too. but i like the thought that it could be referring to this tina. I feel like this "chelsea" was an important girl since she keeps popping up in all the songs. |

One of the reasons i love the fratellis is because their lyrics are so clever. To me, it does sound like he's talking to an old girlfriend. But there are also some important themes to the song. "Yesterday's heroes in last night's clothes..." ( i thought it was IN last night's clothes but im not sure.) If so i think it means that everyone has their shining moment, and they'll find themselves still living in the past but no longer needed. hence, "no one gets you any...no one needs you any...no one gets you anymore" That's another example of how clever the fratellis are, if this is toward an ex girlfriend he just barely takes a stab at her by not quite finishing " no one needs you anymore." |
