| Empire of the Sun – Walking on a Dream Lyrics | 5 years ago |
| I had a completely take on this. The beginning of this seemed to hint at dissociative identity. For some reason this song seemed to evoke the process of integrating your alters. | |
| 10cc – I'm Not In Love Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| To me the lyrics reflect my favourite plot device, the unreliable narrator. The person singing the lyrics clearly loves whoever he's singing about but is obfuscating the fact through some not so clever evasions. Kind of sweet | |
| The Killers – Deadlines And Commitments Lyrics | 11 years ago |

Hrmm, interesting getting the official meaning....When I first listened to this song I swore it was about an open relationship. Someone offering to be a refuge of support. selflessly. Succor and understanding seemed to be the underlying current to me, and the song is being sung to someone panicking under the noose of commitment perhaps marriage. I am inching closer to my thirties, and have had many bouts with anxiety, the idea of running out of time, or not doing what I should be doing. (whatever that is) can be very crushing. The lyrics of this song in that context has been a real salve to me. Music can be very healing. |

| Foster the People – Life on the Nickel Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| It's funny but I initially heard "Awesome" as well.....quite a few of their songs seemed to either intentionally or indirectly employ mondegreens, (mis-interpretation caused my homophony) In Miss you it sounds like Mark is saying "I miss you Sid" (it sounds like he's pining for his gay love, and you can hear the sweetness in his voice as he sings his confession) I'm hoping there's some degree of subliminal intent. Makes the song so much sexier. | |
| Peter Gabriel – Blood Of Eden Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
excerpt from John Galt's speech in Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged What is the nature of the guilt that your teachers call his Original Sin? What are the evils man acquired when he fell from a state they consider perfection? Their myth declares that he ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge - he acquired a mind and became a rational being. It was the knowledge of good and evil - he became a moral being. He was sentenced to earn his bread by his labor - he became a productive being. He was sentenced to experience desire - he acquired the capacity of sexual enjoyment. The evils for which they damn him are reason, morality, creativeness, joy - all the cardinal values of his existence. It is not his vices that their myth of man's fall is designed to explain and condemn, it is not his errors that they hold as his guilt, but the essence of his nature as man. Whatever he was - that robot in the Garden of Eden, who existed without mind, without values, without labor, without love - he was not man. Man's fall, according to your teachers, was that he gained the virtues required to live. These virtues, by their standard, are his Sin. His evil, they charge, is that he's man. His guilt, they charge, is that he lives. They call it a morality of mercy and a doctrine of love for man." |

| Above & Beyond – Alchemy Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Alchemy was a medieval practice and the rudimentary precursor to chemistry. The ultimate goal in alchemy was to learn how to turn metal into gold. The song is essentially about the volatile and unpredictable nature of relationships. The metaphor fits nicely, as the lyrics suggests the heartbroken woman feels she was a failed/precursor experiment. Lamenting that "she's the golden one" | |

This is the translation I got from Google chrome, it's a bit choppy but I can't find the English translation otherwise anywhere If she follows him, he flees if it leaks, it follows Thus, it is written with love and cries I am not trying to say that I was right I admit that I was wrong nearest you seek to escape me, and wrongly or because nearest I love you still The blood will freeze, but the fear is is the same threat, never thought And this blue tattoo reflects our love and blue tattoo is on our hearts forever we are bound never nearest we are bound never nearest Segregation of assets, but resistance of body But I know who still loves R What good hold you in our prisons LR or go as you led the fate nearest you seek to escape me, and wrongly or because nearest I love you still The fire resistant, the memories as This exquisite sketch nearest binds our lives forever And this blue tattoo reflects our love and blue tattoo is on our hearts forever I gave you my life, I stepped on glass I left my country to your world And this blue tattoo reflects our love and blue tattoo on our body is forever and blue tattoo reflects our love we are bound never nearest we are bound never nearest Something between them, it reads in their eyes jusqu'Å• the infinite blue tattoos Love this song |
