Dinosaur Jr. – Crumble Lyrics 9 years ago
2 years later I have a new perspective on these lyrics. I think the song is about feeling presured to pretend to be someone you're not just to satisfy other people(in this case a girl). "I got lost inside a lie", " I'm not real and you know why". Then he asks himself if this fasad he built, ("built a picture yesterday") will "crumble or fly". At the end of the song it seems as if his act has crumbled

"But I don't ever belong* (real lyric)
And I'm sweating trying to stall
Til I think I heard a call
But you're just laughing along"

Dinosaur Jr. – Crumble Lyrics 12 years ago
I think Joe Mattress has the most accurate interpretation. The song is wanting to go back to a happy place in your life, before all the change. "I've got nothing where I've been", "will you bring me THERE again." he wants to go back to the place he was before. "built a picture yesterday", "built a picture of a moment, my love". Remembering old times when things were better, now he doesn't know if he will "crumble or fly" and it scares him to the point of desperation to return to "where he's been".

you know why nobody helped him? it's because those selfish bastards knew he wouldn't make as good of music if he wasn't depressed.

Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics 13 years ago
The Pink Floyd members have conferimed that this song and the whole album is a tribute to Sid Berrit who was kicked out of the band due to exessive drug use. he also showed up for the recording of this album but was bold and did not remember any of the pink floyd members which made them very sad and inspired them to do this song. Wish you were here is a song about how they wish the old Sid Berrit was still with them and in saying that they agknowlage that he has changed into a monster that is not the Sid they know and love. Therefore this song is about Sid's transformation to insanity in his mind.

The first verse is about how Sid has lost the ability to differentiate between good and evil, like (heaven from hell or blue skies from pain). ultimately he has become numb and it is all the same to him.

the second verse is about how Sid aloud the drugs to change him as a person. He exchanged all of the qualities that made up Sid for those suggested by the drugs. hence the phrase "DID YOU EXCHANGE?" "cold comfort for change." or the line: "a walk on part in a war for a lead role in a cage"refers to Sid choosing to battle with drugs over who controls his personality, he looses and gives up. Causing him to become a prisoner, and allowing the drugs to change him however they may.

Third verse basally is the Pink Floyd members missing the old friend they used to know and they know that deep down they share "the same old fears" meaning that they still have a connection with him.

This song makes scene to me because I had a battle with drugs over my personality and luckily I came out onto unlike Sid. This is a extremely meaningful song and once you understand the meaning I guarantee it will touch you in some way.

Kid Cudi – Pursuit of Happiness (Nightmare) (feat. MGMT & Ratatat) Lyrics 13 years ago
This song is about Kid Cudi tiring to Pursue Happiness, but doing it through the wrong means drugs, alcohol, parting, drunk driving, what ever it takes. He becomes confused with real happiness and this fake temporary happiness provided by his party lifestyle. the drugs and alcohol make him feel happy for a little while but once they go away he is left with night sweats, and terrors (second verse) due to wanting that scene of happiness again. Hence the chorus: "I'm on the pursuit of happiness and I know"... "I'll be fine once I get it" he says he'll be fine once he gets it but the happiness he is looking for can never be achieved so he is on a never ending search. When he says "everything that shine ain't always gonna be gold" he is referring to the false happiness. Something that seems like happiness but is not genuine (like fools gold.) finally the end of the music video it shows Kid Cudi in a bathroom messed up from the night and he doesn't seem happy at all. Overall this song is about addiction to fake happiness in general, and the dangers of it.
