All I can make of this song is that Ben's trying to say that there's things about him that his woman wouldn't like, and going on and on about how he's not right for her because of what he sees as his faults, and then she interrupts his "you don't know me" with her own, showing that she doesn't care what he thinks is wrong with him and will love him no matter what. |

I can't understand how nobody gets the meaning of this song. I was listening to the WASO Live version of this when I realized what it was about. To me it seems like it's about a childhood trip where he was going somewhere, and he was scared, but he was shown love by the pilot and his music, telling him not to be scared and to be everything you can. |

It seams to me that it's a song about a girl who's with someone who always keeps her waiting, "Friday bingo, pigeons in the park" makes it seem like he's always keeping her waiting. "Maybe he's been seriously hurt" makes me think that she's really hoping there's at least a good reason he's late this time. She's always waiting for him, and she always tells herself that this is the last time she's going to wait for him, but it's never the last time. "Headlights crest the hill" seems to show that she still wants him to come and hopes that it's him every time she sees somebody coming, but is always disappointed. "but not for me" probably means that he really wants to be with her, but she won't leave this guy who doesn't seem to care about her. |
