I believe this song is about meeting someone new in yoru life and wanting them to open up, I take it as a song basically saying "You are amazing the way you are, and I'm here for you, you can come to me with anything, but first you have to open up for me" Brent is refering to the person as "Amaryllis" and telling this person to "bloom" or "open up" Just my thoughts though.. good song, at first I thought it couldn't get any better with Sounds of Madness, and then my brother bought this album and it is so much better! This song I think is about depression and rejection, let me explain.. "Bury me softly in this womb I give this part of me for you Sand rains down, and here I sit Holding rare flowers in a tomb, in bloom" The "womb" is the sadness and depression, and yet he is giving a part of himself for this one girl. The sand that is raining down is his shell, his walls, and the rare flowers are the softer parts of himself that he hides from the world. They are in bloom, meaning he is ready to show her the other side of him. "Down in a hole, and I don't know if I can be saved See my heart, I decorate it like a grave Oh, you don't understand who they thought I was supposed to be Look at me now, I'm a man who won't let himself be" The depression is weighing down on him tremendously, and he doesn't know how to stop it. His heart is like a grave, dead, and no one understands who he is or what he wants to be. He beats himself up for it and will not let himself be. "Down in a hole, feeling so small Down in a hole, losing my soul Down in a hole, feeling so small Down in a hole, out of control I'd like to fly, but my wings have been so denied" He feels small, empty and possibly suicidal. He wants to feel better, but every time he does, his wings are denied, it always comes back to him. "Down in a hole, and they put all the stones in their place I've eaten the sun, so my tongue has been burned of the taste I have been guilty of kicking myself in the teeth I will speak no more of my feelings beneath" He opens himself up for this girl, and she turns her back and rejects him. "I've eaten the sun..." he numbs the pain somehow, be it Drugs, Alcohol, Self-harm or whatever, so his tongue will be burned of the taste, so he won't feel the pain anymore. He beats himself up for it, kicks himself in the teeth, all because he scared the one he wanted away, and he decides to shut himself up once more and not speak of how he feels inside. "Oh I want to be inside of you" is probably the lust, wanting to be with her, wanting to hold her, make love to her, everything he can't do. That's my interpretation, thanks for reading! :) |

I think this song is about a man who has to travel for a job, and he has to leave his wife and kid behind. here's my interpretation. "I open my lungs, dear. I sing this song at funerals, no rush These lyrics heard a thousand times just plush" This could mean that he had said this before to other girls he was with before they had broken up, the funeral could mean the relationship falling apart, and he had sang this song a number of times (a thousand times) "A baby boy you've held so tightly, this pain it visits almost nightly Missing hotel beds, I feel your touch" This could mean that the man and the woman he is singing to (the mortician's daughter) has a son, and the woman gives birth to the baby soon after he leaves, and the only way they could see eachother is if the woman comes and meets him at a hotel. "I will await, dear, a patience of eternity, my crush. A universal still, no rust." Could be that the man will wait forever just to see her, A Universal Still could mean that she will always be his, and she will always be beautiful in his eyes. "No dust will ever grow on this frame, one million years and I will say your name I love you more than I can ever scream" The man's feelings for her will never fade, he will always love her more than he can "ever scream" (i say that to my girlfriend.. lol) "We booked our flight those years ago, i said I loved you as I left you Regrets still haunt my hollow head, but I promised you I will see you again" It may sound like he left her, but that's not what it means (to me at least). it means that he said he loved her as he left to go wherever he needed, and that he regrets ever leaving and promises her they will be together again. "I sit here and smile, dear. I smile because I think of you and I blush These bleeding hollow dials, this fuss" The man thinks of her all the time, and every time he calls her on the telephone (these bleeding hollow dials, this fuss) its never enough for him and he wants to be with her. "A fuss is made of miles and travel when roadways are but stones and gravel, A bleeding heart can conquer every crutch" He's sad about leaving, it almost breaks his heart, but he is able to go through it. "We booked our flight those years ago, you said you loved me as you left me, Regrets still haunt your saddened head, but I promised you and now I'm home again" She ends up leaving him and she's alone, she regrets leaving him. But he promised her they will see eachother again, and he shows up and now hes home again. That was my interpretation, could be wrong but oh well, its my opinion.. lol. good song, me and my girlfriends song :) |

this reminds me of a relationship i was in. her and i fought a lot and didnt get along, we were complete opposites, she was so manipulative and controling and jealous. this songs about looking back at a relationship that was a bit like that, the girl wanted things that the guy culdnt give her and was controling ("You pushed so hard, you have to know that you might just get what you wanted") i love this song. discovered it in the midst of that relationship, it gave me the courage to actually stand up for myself and just dump her right then and there. brings back memories. when she graduates i might show it to her. just to see the look on her face. XD. |

It's metaphorical. "Starring down the barrel of a 45." could mean looking ahead and seeing possible obstacles in life, or the things life throws at you. Good song. |

Love this song. I think this song is about a relationship that ends over the girl or boy moving away, and they don't want to be in a long distance relationship. Love this song! Cant wait till the album comes out! I think this song is about a girl stuck in an abusive relationship, and as much as she wants out she is still in love with her boyfriend. "You feed this disease Which you shelter underneath the scars And dream of bitter themes Rendered helpless by those wicked charms But please don't believe When I say it's hard to breathe" She hides all this pain inside, and thinks or dreams of "Bitter themes" or suicide, or something else. And she's "Rendered helpless" by her boyfriend (or husbands) "Wicked charms" meaning that whenever she looks into his eyes or something, despite how abusive he is, she is in love with him. "Please don't believe when I say it's hard to breathe" probably means that whenever she tells him to stop he never does. "Save me even as you break me Every time you rape me Leave me coming all undone Praise me than turn your back and hate me Every time you waste me Keep me underneath your thumb" She's in love with him, even when he hurts her and leaves her alone. "Praise me, turn your back and hate me." How he apologizes, and then later goes and hurts her again? "You bleed on the sheets Whispers softly of how you love the stars Than plead on your knees Pledge your promises to do no harm But please just let me be I still find it hard to breathe" The first two lines could be either self harm, or sexual innuendo? (think about it, think really hard about it.) "plead on your kneeds, pledge your promises to do no harm" probably means how she wants to leave him, and he eventually talks her out of it by his "wicked charms." "Please just let me be, I still find it hard to breathe." She says no and leaves him probably. Well, that's my interpretation. I did the best I could. I have a friend who went through something like that. But it probably isnt even about that, its justw hat it sounds like to me... lol... what r your opinions? |
