| Gotye – State Of The Art Lyrics

Agreed. I also like the double meaning of the name "State of the art". Where the one meaning references the usual meaning of "Most up to date" and the other refers to the actual "state" of "the art", in this case music, nowadays. |

| The Naked And Famous – Punching in a Dream Lyrics

I think this song is about the fear that one can feel about the possibility of being unsuccessful because of what life throws at them. They can try and resist but it would be like "punching in a dream" it would be futile. I like how they used nightmares as a way to show unrealized ambitions as a nightmare is literally a bad dream. maybe they see where their life is leading and they "don't ever wanna be here". Anyway, I'm just saying some stuff and hoping someone will be able to snowball it. |

This is one of my favourite songs off of their new album, a few corrections however.
What exactly do you want from me, yeah who exactly do you want me to be.
Oh there was this part of me I burried that when the (televisions roared?)
I wanna fall back in to (what we?) used to represent. wash my filthy hands, wash my filthy hands.

| The Avett Brothers – Pretty Girl from Cedar Lane Lyrics

first off, one of the best pretty girl songs in my opinion.
I think the meaning is pretty obvious, about a guy who was 'on the hook' (for those of you himym fans out there) and this is him suddenly figuring out that she was just stringing him along for the past while. |

This is actually from before Charlie, the drummer, joined and they were known as January Window. This is their only song under that name and these are the correct lyrics; I got them from Suzie, Vocalist/Pianist. |

I believe that some of these lyrics are incorrect here are what i think that they are/should be:
for so long i've been waiting for my chance to disappear
The wooden sleepers, the girders lying still
It's strange to know you'll watch me as I slowly pull away
also, I think that the third line is wrong but I can't for the life of me figure out what he's saying
