This song is about giving someone (her partner) too much trust and therefore allowing him to treat her like shit ie. "somewhere along the way I think, I gave you the power to make, me feel the way I thought only my father could" Her father was a prick to her. He's not complimenting her and her rejecting the compliments, it's the other way around. He's basically telling her that she is worthless, while all the while she knows in her heart that she is more than that. There is another song about her partner, I'm not sure if it's the same guy or not. The song is 'Hands Clean' It kind of annoys me when people claim to be able to 'relate' to the song when they don't actually know the lyrics. However, I do understand that we all interpret different songs in our own way. |

I think this song is about drugs. Many people who take drugs, particularly uppers, often refer to it as a joyride. "and we're all magic friends." Perhaps the drugs were taken with a group of people. Not all songs are about being in love, a good song writer has an amazing way with words. |
