| Aaron Carter – And That's How I Beat Shaq Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Although in the literate sense, the song is about leaving a loved one, my belief is that this song is about AC trying to convince himself that he's leaving someone... something from his life. In my opinion, he is trying real hard to drop his addiction to basketball (which is usually referred to as a female, someone who never leaves your side when you're downlow... b-ball makes you, or at least, is consumed by addicts to forget things, etc.). His repeated use of saying "That's how I beat Shaq" is the piece, or phrase, should I say, that is what makes the listener realize, he's convincing himself (someone who truly beats someone/something would be more like "I beat Shaq" and that's it.). But he's trailing on it, he's looking back to see if he really beat Shaq... He's mentally saying to himself "I really beat Shaq. That's right, I really beat Shaq..." Yeah, that's at least what I understand from this song. The arrangement is awesome, Gotta love AC. |

| Quad City DJ's – Space Jam Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This is a great song that I love, and it is very intelligent and poetic. The song uses the imagery of light and darkness to show how people's ignorance and apathy destroys their ability to communicate even on simple levels. Its theme is man's inability to communicate with man. The author sees the extent of communication as it is on only its most superficial and "commercial" level (of which the "space jam" is representative). There is no serious understanding because there is no serious communication - "Everybody get up, it's time to slam now". No one dares take the risk of reaching out ("Here's your chance, do your dance at the Space Jam") to disturb the sound of the space jam. The poet's (character in the song) attempts are equally futile ("Hey ladies! 'Yeah?' Y'all ready stop? 'NO!' Y'all want to know why? 'Why?' Because it's a Slam Jam"). The ending is an enigma. The words tell us that when meaningful communication fails, the only sound is that of the space jam. |
